I've always said that the field of Industrial/Organizational Psychology is a quirky field. One where you can be the greatest I/O Psychologist in the world and you still feel like you're on the outside. That was the main reason for launching SEBOC and building the community that we have. Being one of the oldest fields but with poor brand recognition, we've all felt the challenge of not only explaining what it is we do, but finding jobs that fit our passion. By far, the number one challenge those I've talked to face is either breaking into the field or advancing in their I/O Psychology career.

We built the community, now we have built the course.

All of the stars aligned when Heather Morton, Gracie Winder, LindaAnn Rogers, and I came together with the same vision of creating a dynamic course, unlike any other to help those in our field land their dream job. We created it to be a momentum building experience with unique insights and tools, and actionable steps that bring the learner closer and closer to their ideal career track and finally having that conversation that results in a job offer.

I’ve been part of SEBOC for many, many years. Being part of the SEBOC community has provided me with invaluable experiences connecting with others and learning the ins and outs of this field. However, something that I wish I had when finishing my graduate studies was a guide to finding my ideal career. While there are many career-related theories and action plans you can use to support your journey, I believe that there could be more done to support students and new grads alike.

Things really came together when I spoke to Jeremy about wanting to create a course for I/Os wanting to find their place in this field. It was in that moment that he said Gracie and LindaAnn also expressed similar ideas.

Really?!

It was like everything fell into place. The four of us got together and created this I/O Psychology Career Accelerator course with YOU in mind. We kept in mind what struggles we faced while navigating this field, and really, the job market in general, to create a practical and pragmatic course.

As Jeremy stated, “We built the community, now we have built the course.” I hope you gain the wealth of knowledge from this course that we wish we had when starting our I/O journeys!

After working to develop this course, I have found that what excites me most is how thoroughly it empowers Industrial/Organizational Psychology professionals to confidently advocate for their value across every aspect of their careers. From mastering data-driven salary negotiations to building authentic networks and powerful personal branding, each module is thoughtfully designed to equip learners with actionable skills they can immediately put into practice. Seeing these strategies come together to help professionals secure roles and compensation that genuinely reflect their expertise and worth is incredibly rewarding—and exactly why I helped create this comprehensive, practical resource.

Each time I revisit the program to refresh myself on the content, I'm struck by how comprehensive it is. Over the years, I’ve worked with experts on everything from writing standout résumés to crafting effective LinkedIn profiles—and all that insight is built into this one resource. You don’t need to keep searching for other webinars or guides. Whether you're sharpening your networking strategy or refining your personal brand, the tools are all here.

One of the things I truly appreciate is how the program’s comprehensiveness allows you to pick the tools and strategies that align with your personality and goals—and use them to present yourself in a way that feels authentic and confident. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution.

And then there’s the capstone project. This part alone is worth it. No matter what niche you're pursuing in I/O psychology, the capstone gives you a powerful way to showcase your work—your projects, surveys, analyses, and more. It becomes a living portfolio you’ll use not just in this job search, but throughout your career. I’ve been recommending this kind of professional archive for years, and I can’t stress enough how valuable it is to have a place where your best work lives and evolves with you.
